Bonus Points Power Cumberland to 36-9 Victory Over Georgetown

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland used a dominant stretch through the middle and lower weights to pull away from Georgetown, rolling to a 36-9 dual victory behind five bonus-point wins and control of the final six bouts.

The Phoenix set the tone at 157 pounds, where No. 25 Elijah Griffin overwhelmed Jeremy Mills with a 16-0 technical fall in just over five minutes. Logan Brown followed at 165 with another tech fall, cruising past Sam Daniels 21-3, before No. 21 Anthony Pyron electrified the crowd at 174 by pinning Keenan Shively just 1:12 into the bout to push Cumberland in front 16-0.

Georgetown found brief momentum in the upper weights, as No. 8 Navarro Nanpuya edged No. 10 Rocco Horvath 6–1 at 184 and #13 Marcus James slipped past #10 Tyler Rowland in a tight 3–2 decision at 197. The Tigers added another decision at heavyweight behind #19 Luke Cox, who topped Noah Todd 9-4, trimming the margin to 16–9.

Cumberland slammed the door shut from there. No. 22 Chase Walker reignited the Phoenix with a fall at 125, sticking Peter Byron in 2:25, and Bentley Ellison followed with an 18-3 technical fall at 133. No. 3 Sammy Shires continued the surge at 141, racing to a 19-2 tech fall in just 3:39, before No. 1 Victor Guzman closed the night with a commanding 22-8 major decision at 149.

The Phoenix finished the dual with four technical falls, two falls, and a major decision, showcasing depth and firepower across the lineup as they secured the convincing 36-9 win.

Cumberland will be in action tomorrow at the Cumberland Open and will host No. 7 Cumberlands on Monday.
