No. 8 Tigers Take Down No. 11 Phoenix in Final Regular Season Dual

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - - Cumberland wrapped up its regular season against Campbellsville, dropping their final dual 29-10 to the No. 8 Tigers.

The Phoenix got off to a strong start at 125 pounds as Chase Walker opened the dual with a dominant 14-2 major decision over Aluma Enwa, giving Cumberland early extra points. Campbellsville answered back quickly with a major decision win over Bentley Ellison, seeing 14th-ranked Izaeah Beavers win 14-2.

At 141, 9th-ranked Nick Moore of the Tigers then picked up a 7-2 decision over 2nd-ranked Jared Dinh, paving the path for another upset victory at 149. Victor Guzman came into the final regular season dual with the highest ranking in the country but was upset by 8th-ranked Nicholas Yancey, 8-5, helping to push the Tiger lead out to 10-4.

Cumberland responded at 157 pounds, where Antonio Parker battled through a tight matchup to earn a 4-2 decision over Gavin Andreoni. Campbellsville added extra points through back-to-back technical falls at 165 and 174. 4th-ranked Jaistin Kabwimana took down Ethan Gomez and 7th-ranked Shadrick Slone got the best of Anthony Pyron.

Rocco Horvath turned the tide shortly as he picked up a solid 9-5 decision against Brice Parks, marking Cumberland's first upset of the night as Parks sat one spot above Horvath at 9th and 10th respectively.

The Tigers closed out the night with victories at 197 and 285, taking down Tyler Rowland and Evan Dixon. 10th-ranked Rowland fell to 12-ranked Ashton Boswell, falling in a tight 10-5 decision, while Dixon was pinned by Samuel Bertin, recording a final team score of 29-10. The Phoenix will now get ready for the Mid-South Conference Championships set for Friday February 13th in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
