Game Recap: Women's Flag Football |

Phoenix Shut Out Tigers in 25-0 Rout

LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Cumberland flag football team took on Campbellsville and picked up their third win of the season, shutting out the Tigers 25-0.

Dyna'C Davis started the game off strong for the Phoenix, intercepting a pass in just the first minute of the game to give Cumberland the ball near the end zone. The Phoenix took advantage of the error after four pass attempts, found Marley Hyde for her sixth touchdown of the season. Hyde then caught the point-after-attempt to put the home CU ahead, 7-0.

In Campbellsville's second offensive drive they marched down the field and made it all the way to their final zone, but when they looked to the end zone for a deep shot, Kiah Seay was there to pick off the second attempt of the day.

Again the Phoenix went marching, completing a string of passes to set themselves up in plus territory again. After Hyde's reception earlier, this time it was Jessica Young taking a direct snap for six points from a rush of more than twenty yards, putting Cumberland ahead 13-0.

The Phoenix continued to pour it on in the first half, putting another touchdown on the board via Marley Hyde to extend their lead to 19-0. Kiah Seay also nabbed her second interception of the first half, picking the Tigers off with just over six minutes left in the first half. Cumberland took that 19-0 lead into the half.

Offense slowed down in the second half as the Phoenix put just six more on the board to push the final score up to 25-0. Cumberland managed six interceptions in the game and with the shutout, secured their largest win in program history, coming over a conference opponent.

Madison Woodard had a big game at quarterback as she passed for over 200 yards, helped by Marley Hyde's two touchdowns on 61 yards. Gabby Orsi also managed 56 yards, while Je'Leah Cole chipped in the third touchdown reception of the day. Young rushed for 34 yards on four attempts.

Defensively, Ava Hourigan and Avery Conger both managed five flag pulls to lead the Phoenix, but the real impact was made in the passing game. Kiah Seay made her impact known with a pair of picks, while Dyna'C Davis, ShaNaiya Robinson, Avery Conger, and Brianna Taylor all added in one each.

Cumberland will be on the road this Saturday for a trimatch with Milligan and Reinhardt, starting at 1PM.
