Phoenix Offense Explodes in Doubleheader Sweep of Siena Heights

LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Cumberland Phoenix offense exploded on Friday, combining for 40 runs and six home runs to sweep Siena Heights in a dominant doubleheader at Ernest L. Stockton Field/Woody Hunt Stadium.

Aiden McDonald launched a three-run homer to score Haussin and Dylan Larue, and Cohl Proctor followed with a three-run blast of his own to make it 6-0 before an out was recorded. Cumberland continued the rally with a pair of hit-by-pitches and a Wilser Then walk that pushed the lead to 9-0 in the opening inning.

The offense stayed hot in the second. Gabriel Reyes added a two-run homer, Larue drove in a run with a triple and later scored on a wild pitch, and Charlie Rocca knocked in two with a single to extend the lead.

Jordan Sheridan later doubled to start the fourth inning and scored on a wild pitch, while Logan Baskins delivered five shutout innings on the mound, striking out seven.

Cumberland broke the game open in the sixth inning. Rocca drove in two with a double, Reyes added a sacrifice fly, Chris Meilan knocked in a run, and Larue capped the inning with a three-run homer. Sheridan later added a two-run double as the Phoenix finished game one with 25 runs on 18 hits.

John Sullivan closed things out with two scoreless innings of relief to secure the combined shutout.

The Phoenix carried that momentum into game two. McDonald and Royer opened the first inning with back-to-back hits, and Then followed with a double to center field. Siena Heights broke up the shutout with a two-run home run from Zander Zeiter, but Mateo Santos went the distance on the mound. The right-hander tossed seven innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one.
