NASHVILLE, Tenn.--For the second straight day the Phoenix took on an NCAA Division I opponent, falling to Lipscomb 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Lipscomb claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Mateus Mori and Carlos Morillas fell 6-3 at the top spot, while Matheus Guarnieri and Mohamed Bouhlel were defeated 6-2 at No. 3 to claim the point. The No. 2 doubles pairing of Arne Sohmer and Arthur Fernandes was tied 5-4 before going unfinished.

In singles play, Arthur Fernandes secured Cumberland's lone point with a win at No. 3, taking the opening set 6-0 before falling 6-2 in the second, earning the victory with a 11-9 tiebreaker.

At No. 1, Carlos Morillas fell to Facundo Perlov 6-2, 6-1, while Matheus Guarnieri dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Filippo Verdese at No. 2. Mohamed Bouhlel was edged in a tight first set at No. 4 before falling 6-4, 6-1 to Henrique Ushizima.

Mateus Mori was defeated at No. 5 due to retirement against Alex Vlahos, and Magnus Johansen fell 6-1, 6-0 to Oliver Theony at No. 6.

Cumberland will have one week to prepare for No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett next Wednesday in Pulaski as well as taking on Tennessee Southern.
