BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - - Cumberland women's tennis saw its MSC Championship run come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to No. 13-ranked University of the Cumberlands.

In doubles play it was the Patriots who pulled away, winning on the first two courts to clinch the point. Asya Tilsim Timur and Madeleine Darud dropped the top spot, 6-0, while Valentina and Juanita Mendez fell at No. 2 doubles, 6-2. Elina Sungatullina and Maria Arbelaez were leading 5-2 at No. 3 doubles when the point was clinched.

The Patriots then snapped up three points quickly in singles action, seeing Valentina Mendez drop her match at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Elina Sungatullina fell at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1, while Madeleine Darud was defeated at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

Asya Tilsim Timur was leading in the second set with her match score at 1-6, 4-3. Maria Arbelaez had just fallen in the first set tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4), while Ame Van Eijk was competing strongly at No. 6 singles before her match was left unfinished.

Cumberland will now await the selection committee's decision to see if they are given an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
