Phoenix Finish Third in 2025-26 MSC President’s Cup Standings

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland Athletics finished third in the final 2025-26 Mid-South Conference President's Cup standings following the completion of the spring championship season, conference officials announced Friday.

The Phoenix totaled 120 points in the year-long all-sports race, finishing behind only Cumberlands (Ky.) in first at 140 points and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in second at 132.5 points. Cumberland finished ahead of Campbellsville in fourth at 111.5 points, while Bethel and Georgetown tied for fifth with 97 points and Freed-Hardeman placed seventh at 89.5.

Cumberland compiled 59.5 points on the men's side and 60.5 points on the women's side, placing third in both the Men's and Women's All-Sports standings to cap a balanced year across Phoenix athletics.

The spring championship season included archery, baseball, esports, golf, softball, tennis, and outdoor track & field.

The Phoenix were powered by standout performances throughout the spring slate, highlighted by a Mid-South Conference championship in esports, where Cumberland tied for the league lead to earn 9.5 points. Women's golf added a runner-up finish at the conference championship for nine points, while baseball finished third in the regular season standings to collect eight points. Cumberland also earned strong contributions from men's golf with eight points, women's tennis with eight points, men's tennis with seven points, and both men's and women's outdoor track & field with seven and six points, respectively.

Cumberland's final President's Cup finish was bolstered by strong performances across all three championship seasons. The Phoenix earned maximum points in both men's and women's bowling during the winter season, while women's soccer and esports tied for conference titles to earn 9.5 points apiece. Additional top performances came from women's cross country, women's golf, and men's wrestling, each posting runner-up finishes worth nine points.

The President's Cup standings are determined by the top seven men's and top seven women's finishes for each institution across conference-sponsored sports. Points are awarded based on regular-season standings or championship finishes, with 10 points awarded to the top team in each sport.

Cumberlands claimed the overall President's Cup title after totaling a perfect 140 points and leading both the men's and women's all-sports standings. This is the Patriots fifth-consecutive President's Cup trophy and their 13th all-time. Lindsey Wilson finished second overall at 132.5 points and has captured the cup 10 times. Georgetown has won it three times and Campbellsville has won the Cup twice. Cumberland has won it one time in 1999.

President's Cup points are reserved for full conference members only who compete in conference championship sports. President's Cup points are not given to emerging sports in the MSC.
