Cumberland Volleyball Opens the Season Receiving Votes in NAIA Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--Cumberland University women's volleyball will open the 2026 season receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Preseason Poll, released Wednesday by the national office.

The Phoenix are coming off a 25-14 campaign in 2025, finishing 6-6 in Mid-South Conference play and advancing to the semifinals of the MSC Tournament.

Cumberland returns several key pieces from last season's squad, including First Team All-Mid-South Conference selection and Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year Carlee Rogers and Second Team All-MSC middle Hailey Jones

The Phoenix are one of three Mid-South Conference programs represented in the preseason poll. Cumberlands (Ky.) enters the season ranked No. 10 nationally, while Cumberland and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) are both receiving votes.

Northwestern (Iowa) earned the No. 1 spot in the preseason rankings after finishing as the national runner-up last season. Eastern Oregon is ranked second, followed by Concordia (Neb.), three-time defending national champion Indiana Wesleyan, and Corban (Ore.) to round out the top five.

Cumberland begins the 2026 season this weekend at home with the Phoenix Classic. The tournament will bring a strong field to Lebanon featuring four teams that made the 2025 NAIA National Championship field. The Phoenix opponents include No. 2 Eastern Oregon and Columbia International (S.C.), which is also receiving votes in the preseason poll as well as Rio Grande (Ohio) and Fisk (Tenn.).

The Phoenix open the season Friday at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.
