BPC Magazine Highlights Pavan’s Leadership at Cumberland

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland University Vice President of Athletics Ron Pavan was recently featured by BPC Magazine in a profile highlighting his leadership, student-first philosophy and commitment to transforming lives through collegiate athletics.

The feature chronicles Pavan's 18 years at Cumberland and the culture he has helped establish within the Phoenix athletic department. It explores his relationship-based approach to leadership, Cumberland Athletics' commitment to academics and community service, and his belief that success extends far beyond wins and championships.

"When you come to Cumberland, you are a student first," Pavan said in the feature. "We're trying to produce businesspeople, lawyers and doctors."

Since arriving at Cumberland in August 2008, Pavan has overseen significant growth throughout the department while maintaining a focus on developing well-rounded student-athletes. Under his leadership, Cumberland has expanded its athletic offerings, enhanced its facilities and continued to establish itself as one of the premier programs in the Mid-South Conference and the NAIA.

Despite the department's many championships and accomplishments, Pavan told BPC Magazine that the greatest reward remains watching Cumberland's student-athletes grow and succeed.

"Transforming lives," Pavan said. "Kids come in and flourish and change their lives. That is the most important, not all the national championships."
