LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Cumberland women's soccer used a second-half surge to secure a 2-0 victory over Eastern Oregon on Wednesday afternoon at Lindsey Donnell Stadium, improving to 3-1-0 on the season.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Phoenix broke through just over a minute into the second half. Bombing down the left wing, Victoria Collins found the back of the net in the 46th minute, with Adelyn Drane and Uxia Varela combining to provide the assists to give Cumberland a 1-0 advantage.

Eastern Oregon continued to pressure the Phoenix throughout the half, but Sydney Eads stood tall in goal with four saves, including a header from Ava Henkemeyer in the 86th minute that helped preserve Cumberland's lead.

Cumberland added an insurance goal in the 87th minute when Collins struck again, completing her brace and pushing the Phoenix lead to 2-0.

Collins led the Phoenix attack with six shots, three on goal and two goals, while Varela added three shots and Drane recorded an assist. Cumberland finished with 12 shots, six on target and five corner kicks.

The Phoenix defense held Eastern Oregon scoreless despite allowing 17 shots, with Eads and the Cumberland back line combining to record their second clean sheet in a row. With the victory, Cumberland moves to 3-1-0, with their final game of the home stand coming on Saturday against No. 23 UNOH.
