Cumberland Continues to Receive Votes in NAIA Women’s Volleyball Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--Cumberland University remained in the receiving votes category in the first regular-season edition of the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday by the national office.

The Phoenix have played a demanding nonconference schedule through the opening weeks of the 2026 season, appearing in 13 matches and posting a 6-7 record. Cumberland's slate has included a matchup against newly crowned No. 1 Eastern Oregon and contests against several other programs recognized in the national poll.

Cumberland has collected wins over Rio Grande (Ohio), Columbia International (S.C.), Central Methodist (Mo.), St. Ambrose (Iowa), Tabor (Kan.) and Park-Gilbert (Ariz.). Four of the Phoenix's six victories have come in straight sets.

Through 46 sets, Cumberland has recorded 560 kills, 514 assists, 661 digs, 99 service aces and 77 total blocks. The Phoenix are averaging 12.17 kills, 11.17 assists, 14.37 digs, 2.15 aces and 1.67 blocks per set while hitting .192 as a team.

Cumberland ranks seventh nationally in total kills, fifth in service aces, eighth in total points and 16th in total blocks. The Phoenix have produced 736 points, an average of 16.0 per set.

Eastern Oregon moved into the No. 1 position after opening the season 11-0 and received 17 of the 18 first-place votes. Northwestern (Iowa), Concordia (Neb.), Corban (Ore.) and McPherson (Kan.) rounded out the top five.

The University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) checked in at No. 10 as the highest-ranked Mid-South Conference program.

Cumberland will travel to Michigan this weekend to take on the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invitational.
