LEBANON, Tenn. - - Cumberland University women's soccer picked up a late victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating SCAD Savannah with a go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute.

Cumberland wasted little time creating chances, with Victoria Collins hitting the crossbar just 2:47 into the match. Collins later came close again before finally breaking through in the 22nd minute. At 21:16, Collins found the back of the net off assists from Sabrina Barbosa and Adelyn Drane to give the Phoenix a 1-0 lead.

The Phoenix carried the advantage into halftime despite SCAD generating several opportunities of its own. Cumberland goalkeeper Sydney Eads made one save in the opening half, while the Phoenix finished the period with seven shots.

SCAD pulled level early in the second half when Ella Nilsson scored in the 58th minute. The Phoenix responded by continuing to pressure the SCAD defense, and Cumberland regained the lead in the 73rd minute. Lilly Adair scored the eventual game-winning goal at 72:30, finishing off a slick ball roll and assist from Sophia Olivera to put Cumberland ahead 2-1.

From there, the Phoenix defense and Eads held firm. SCAD managed several late chances, including three shots in the final five minutes, but Eads turned away an attempt from Amelie Waine and Cumberland blocked multiple additional efforts to preserve the victory.

Cumberland finished the match with 13 shots, including six on goal, while SCAD recorded 20 shots and six on target. Eads made five saves in the victory.

Collins led the Phoenix attack with a goal on five shots, including four shots on goal. Adair added the game-winner, while Olivera, Barbosa and Drane each recorded an assist. Cumberland will now await Williams Baptist on Tuesday for their senior day festivities.
