Phoenix Volleyball Hosts Their Conference Home Opener Against the Tigers

LEBANON, Tenn. -- Cumberland Women's Volleyball opens its home conference schedule with a matchup against Georgetown.

Cumberland (9-11, 1-1) is coming off a straight set loss at No. 21 Cumberlands.

As a unit, the Phoenix have posted 11.8 kills per set on a .182 hitting percentage, while allowing 10.8 kills per set on a .175 hitting percentage. Cumberland's defensive unit has been consistent this year, collecting 14 digs per set and sending back nearly two shots per set.

Sophomore setter Carlee Rogers has been everywhere for the Phoenix, with the Jasper, Indiana native being the only player in the Mid-South Conference to average over two kills per set, five assists per set, and two digs per set. On the attack, outsides Carola Schnidrig and Bianca Guceanu are a potent one-two punch. Schidrig averages 2.63 kills per set on a .173 hitting percentage, while Guceanu averages 2.15 kills per set on .142 hitting percentage.

Defensively, senior libero Kaleigh Glass has been the stalwart on that back line, collecting 3.85 digs per set, while Schidrig has collected 2.79 digs per set. The middle duo of Liberty Shadix and Hailey Jones have been a brick wall, combining for 1.75 blocks per set. The freshman duo of AJ Bryant and Lydia Cox have been impressive on the serve, combining for 48 service aces on the season.

For the Tigers (11-5, 0-1), they are looking to get back into the winning column after dropping their last two games, including their conference opener against Campbellsville.

As a team, Georgetown has posted 11.29 kills per set on a .184 hitting percentage, while allowing 10.71 kills on a .146 hitting percentage. The Tigers have been strong defensively as well, collecting 13.75 digs per set and denying 1.49 blocks per set.

Georgetown's offense is led by junior left Reagan Kupper, who is averaging 2.9 kills per set on a .242 hitting percentage, while also hitting 29 service aces. The Tigers' lead distributors are sophomore setter Reagan Miller and junior setter Faith Miller. With both Millers combining for just over nine assists per set and 2.81 digs per set. Defensively, senior libero Paula Rueda has been collecting 4.65 digs per set.

In the series between the Phoenix and Tigers, Georgetown has dominated, having a 21-10 record against Cumberland, though the Phoenix have won eight of the last 10 matchups. CU swept the season series last year, taking wins both home and away. When Cumberland hosts the Tigers, they have a record of 6-7.

First serve is set for 7:00 PM, and you can watch it on the Cumberland Sports Network. The Phoenix will recognize the faculty that has been critical to their time in Cumberland before first serve begins.
