Women's Tennis picks up two victories

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Cumberland swept the doubles and all six singles matches in a 7-0 victory against Bethel University, while also defearing Freed-Hardeman 6-1 in women’s tennis action Saturday.

The Phoenix started with a clean sweep over Bethel University recording three doubles wins, as Stefanie Navaratnam and Ainhoa Garijo Garrido registered a 6-1 victory versus Sophia Vasconcellos and Marcela Cordeiro. Cumberland’s Joana Bou and Anna Kopituk defeated Samanthajo Stone and Kelsie Seiber, 6-1. Ana Collozos and Carly Earnhardt posted a 6-1 win versus Lexi Daniels and Anabella Baralt, 6-1, at No. 2.

Garijo Garrido posted a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 1 against Vasconcellos, Hernandez recorded a 6-3, 6-2, win at No. 2 over Cordeiro and Navaratnam defeated Baralt 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3.

Kopituk won 6-2, 6-1, against Daniels at No. 4 singles while Ernhardt defeated Stone 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5 and Bou registered a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.

In the second match of the day Cumberland posted a 6-1 victory over Freed-Hardeman.

Cumberland posted two victories in the doubles matches. Hernandez and Navaratnam posted a 6-0 victory and Earnhardt and Collozos notched a 6- 1 win. Bou and Kopitak lost 4-6.

Garijo Garrido defeated Tatum 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1. Navaratnam lost to Freed's Skylar Sullivan 3-6, 1-6, at No. 2 singles. Kopituk posted a 6-3,  6-2 decision over Emaleigh Board. 

At No. 4, Earnhardt registered a 6-2,6-1 victory over Sydney Smith, while Collazos swept Molly Muphy 6-0,6-0 at No. 5. Bou posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ali Ann Russel.
