GEORGETOWN, Ky.—Cumberland Men's Tennis opened up day one of the ITA Southeast Regional with one doubles team and three individuals still left vying for a regional championship. 

Vitor Ferreira and Julian Parada won their first two matches to move on to day two in the quarterfinals. The duo beat Kevin Bollmann and Gonzaga Lafarga from Milligan in the opening round 8-4. They advanced to beat Liam Saivo and Billy Chaing Chia Chung from the Cumberlands in tiebreakers, 8-7 (7-3). Parada and Ferreira will take on Felipe Dias and Guillerme Cupatino in the quarters tomorrow morning. 

Paul-Daniel Meyer and Damian Rossi bested Lindsey Wilson's Logan Engela and Rishi Jalota in the opener rather easily 8-1. However, their run was cut short in the second round when they lost in tiebreakers to Diego Garcia Gil and Luke Geduldt from Union. 

In singles, the Phoenix have three individuals left heading into day two in Rossi, Meyer, and Parada. 

Meyer posted a huge upset victory in the first round when he beat the No. 6 seed Miguel Perez from Lindsey Wilson. Meyer took him down 6-4, 6-3 to advance to take on Lakshay Vivek from Midway in the Round of 32 tomorrow. 

Rossi handled Bethel's Arthur Tringo rather decisively with a 6-0, 6-3 win to move on. He will be in action against Alex Strainger from Georgetown in the second round.

Parada, the only returner in competition for Cumberland at the event, defeated Marcos Moreno from Milligan, 6-2, 6-2. He will move on to face Logan Engela from Lindsey Wilson tomorrow. 

Ferreira battled in singles, but lost in tiebreakers to Campbellsville's Nahuel Hernando, 6-3, 7-5, (10-7).

Each of the Phoenix will remain in action tomorrow as they seek to stay in action heading into the weekend.
