Men's Tennis Receiving Votes in Final NAIA Top 25 Poll

LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Cumberland men's tennis team wraps up the final NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll in the receiving votes category, as was announced by the league office this afternoon.

Since the previous Poll, the Phoenix have gone 2-2, with a pair of wins over Campbellsville and (RV) UT Southern. The latter came in a trimatch with the Firehawks and the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies, seeing the Phoenix squeeze past the hosts 4-3, before falling to the No. 1 Grizzlies.

Following those matches was the Mid-South Conference Tournament, where the Phoenix topped the Campbellsville Tigers with a comfortable 4-2 win, though CU was unable to unseat the top-seed and No. 5 ranked Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders.

The top seven teams held their positions in the final Poll, with Georgia Gwinnett once again leading the way at No. 1 with all 11 first-place votes and 300 points. Tennessee Wesleyan remained No. 2 with 288 points, while Keiser (Fla.) stayed at No. 3 with 279 points.

Grace (Ind.) continued its upward trend by climbing to No. 18. Loyola (La.) made one of the larger moves of the week, jumping two spots to No. 22, while New College of Florida also gained ground, moving from No. 25 to No. 23.

No new teams entered the poll this week, as all 25 programs from the previous ranking remained in the Top 25.

The postseason poll will be released on Wednesday, May 20.
