Men's Tennis Battles Against No. 22 Reinhardt Eagles

Macon, Ga. - - After battling to a day-two split in their matches yesterday, the Phoenix had their schedule cut down to just one game today, facing off against no. 22 Reinhardt University.

Dan Slapnik Trost and Adrijan Hrzic ran the middle court, taking the win at no. 2 doubles, but Cumberland was unable to take the doubles point. At no. 1 doubles Julian Parada and Vitor Ferriera were competitive but fell, 6-3.

Reinhardt claimed the point with a victory at the third and final spot, taking no. 3 spot from Elisey Kalashikov and Paul Daniel Meyer. As the matches have done all weekend, Cumberland had to fight against the clinch now that the Eagles had themselves the doubles point for cushion.

At no. 1 singles Vitor Ferreira started off slowly, dropping his first set 6-2, but rallied in the second and dropped just a single service game, ultimately falling 7-5. The next match that was able to finish was at no. 3 singles, where Julian Parada never could find his way into the match, dropping 6-1, 6-3.

No. 6 singles was the only other match played to completion, as Jackson Vaugh dropped his match 6-3, 6-2. Other Phoenix had strong match performances going when the match was called, with two of the three players having won at least one set in their match.

At no. 4, Paul Daniel Meyer took the first set 7-5 and was ahead in the second, 3-2. Also playing well, Elisey Kalashikov ran away with the first set, 6-1, and was down a game in the second, 5-4. The only other match that was abandoned was at no. 2, as Adrijan Hrzic had dropped the first set and trailed in the second, 6-4, 3-1, in the end.

Cumberland will have one final match to play in Georgia, taking on the College of Coastal Georgia tomorrow morning.
