Women's Tennis drops Final Match of Georgia Tip to Coastal Georgia

MACON, Ga.--Cumberland women's tennis suffers a 5-2 defeat in the final match of the Georgia trip. 

Coastal Georgia swiftly secured the doubles point as the Phoenix still undermanned due to injuries conceded at No. 3 to start. Despite a win for Cumberland in the first doubles position with Maria Arbelaez and Laura Zugasti defeating Chloe Do Lago and Paula Cigarran with a score of 6-4, Azul Malatini and Danielle Silvan clinched a 7-5 victory over Valentina Mendez and Kaede Hatano at No. 2 for the point. 

Valentina Mendez and Lara Zugasti each picked up singles wins. Mendez claimed victory in a tough battle against Rocio Arraya at No. 2, with a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Lara Zugasti managed to snatch a win at No. 3, triumphing over Lisa McKenzie with a score of 7-6, 6-0. 

Ana Gonzalez won at No. 1 over Maria Arbelaez, securing her victory with a score of 6-3, 6-1. Coastal Georgia's Chloe Do Lago and Azul Malatini earned wins at No. 4 and No. 5 with the Phoenix conceding the No. 6 singles match.

Cumberland will be at home for the first time this season taking on Georgetown College at 1:00 p.m. at the Tommy Gray Memorial Courts.
