Men's Tennis Stay Perfect in Conference with Win Over Tigers

Lebanon, Tenn. - - The Cumberland men's tennis team took on the Campbellsville Tigers and kept their record clean in the conference, winning 7-0.

Cumberland controlled doubles at each spot, taking the point after just twenty eight minutes. Elisey Kalashikov and Paul-Daniel Meyer won quickly at the third spot, 6-2, while Vitor Ferreira and Julian Parada took a 6-3 victory just minutes later.

With the victory the Phoenix grabbed the point and Daniel Wessels and German Suarez got the sweep with a 6-3 win at the middle spot. Singles only saw two matches go more than two sets, as Daniel Wessels won in two tiebreaks, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-2).

Vitor Ferreira followed that victory up at the second spot, taking down Nicholas Andrade in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Adrijan Hrzic won as well, taking the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-4.

Continuing the straight set sweeps, Julian Parada won 6-1, 6-1 at the following spot. The final two spots went through three sets to win, but the Phoenix would not drop a single match.

Paul-Daniel Meyer dropped his first set, but wound up winning the following two sets , 6-3, 6-3. The final match of the day saw Elisey Kalashikov win as well, 4,-6, 6-2, 6-3.

CU has some time off before finishing their home stretch, playing Lewis-Clark State College next Friday. The match is set to start at 1:30 PM.
