Phoenix Women Finish Eighth at Ray Bullock Invitational

UPLAND, Ind.--Cumberland women's cross country turned in a balanced performance at the Ray Bullock Invitational hosted by Taylor University on Friday, placing eighth overall with a team score of 203 in a field that featured several ranked NAIA programs.

Sarah Wilkerson led the Phoenix with a 40th-place finish, posting a time of 24:09.39 on the 6K course. Alexa Rumpf followed close behind in 48th at 24:36.56, while Wendy Komane finished 55th with a 25:06.28 effort.

Sami Parker (25:17.34) and Jenna Towles (25:21.21) rounded out Cumberland's scoring runners in 62nd place and 63rd place, respectively. Laykin Ellis clocked in at 25:43.65 in 65th, Lilah Mohler took 70th at 25:51.93, and Channon Cundiff finished in 75th at 26:02.48.

Host Taylor University claimed the team title with 24 points, placing five runners inside the top 10. Indiana Wesleyan took second place with 67 points followed by Grace College in third at 71.

Cumberland will return to competition on October 25th at the Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
