Wilkerson Earns All-Conference as the Phoenix Take Second Place in MSC XC Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-- Cumberland Women's Cross Country took second place in the Mid-South Conference Championships this afternoon, marking their highest finish since 2018.

Cumberland totaled the second lowest number of points at 75, narrowly edging out Georgetown who scored 80. All runners for the Phoenix landed themselves a scoring placement inside of the Top 20.

Sarah Wilkerson did what she has done all semester, leading the Phoenix with a 12th place finish, good for Second Team All-Conference, running her 6k in 24:41.41. Alexa Rumpf and Wendy Komane finished within four seconds of one another at 18th and 19th, as the latter ran it in a time of 25:28.02, while the former ran hers in 25:31.90.

Just below that pair was another duo for the Phoenix bunched up next to one another, seeing Jenna Towles edge out her teammate Laykin Ellis by less than two tenths of a second, as the pair placed 22nd and 23rd. Towles ran the course with a time of 25:45.85, while Ellis ran a time 25:45.99.

Sami Parker (26:32.72), Lilah Mohler (27:10.64), and Channon Cundiff (27:37.44) all rounded out the Phoenix runners on the day, helping to lead Cumberland to their best finish since 2018.
