Women’s Soccer Look to Finish Strong in Conference Campaign Away to Campbellsville

LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Phoenix come into the final conference game 11-3-1 and  4-0-1 in the MSC, with a victory against Campbellsville securing the Mid-South Conference Championship for the first time since 2017.

A win against Campbellsville would also mean that Cumberland would host the Mid-South Conference tournament semi-final and final. Should this happen, it would be the first time that Cumberland Women's Soccer have hosted the conference tournament.

In all time history, Cumberland leads Campbellsville 15-6-4, with the most recent match up ending in a thrilling penalty shoot out where Senior Celia Martin made the game winning save which saw the Phoenix advance to the Mid-South Conference tournament final.

In their most recent game Cumberland defeated Georgetown 6-0. Kadisha Martina picked up a hat trick, Victoria Collins bagged a brace, and Ali Cole got her first goal of the season with a wonder strike that found the top left corner from 35 yards out.

Collins and Martina lead the conference in goals with 10 each. Seika Stull has been instrumental in the midfield, the senior is currently third in the nation and leads the conference in assists with 15. Freshman Olga Wallemo has made an instant impact in the midfield, starting all but one game and scoring eight goals. The Phoenix have had 14 different goal scorers this season and are averaging four goals a game.

In defense Celia Martina has kept up her fine form and now boasts seven shut outs. The goalkeeper is also second in the conference on goals against average with 1.17. Sky Hull and Ida Kjallgren have been impressive in defense in recent games, in the most recent game the center back duo limited Georgetown to only three shots.

Campbellsville came into the game 8-7 on the season and 3-2 in the conference. Last week the Tigers suffered a 4-0 loss to the University of the Cumberlands. Bethin Boyle, Fiona Jolly, and Amelie Matheis lead the team in goals with four each.

Julia Ogren has been pulling the strings from the midfield as the Freshman leads the team in assists with four. In goal, Milly Shakespear has made 45 saves this season and has a save percentage of .700.

The game kicks off at 6pm E.T in Campbellsville, Ky. Catch the game live on Campbellsville Tigers YouTube page.
