Men's Cross Country Run to Third Place Finish in MSC Cross Country Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-- Cumberland Men's Cross Country placed third at the Mid-South Conference Championships on Friday morning at Phil Moore Park. 

The Phoenix tallied 85 points as all four scoring runners finished inside the top 25. Cumberlands dominated the meet with a perfect 15 points, while Bethel (Tenn.) was second with 84.

Leading the way for Cumberland was sophomore Matteo Abel, who crossed in 17th place at 27:23.73, followed closely by Ethan Garcia in 20th with a time of 27:48.32. Edwin Kigen (28:03.39) and Garrett Tunks (28:07.35) provided key support in 22nd and 24th, respectively, while Wesley Calderon rounded out the scoring five in 48th at 30:15.66. Bela Brandl (30:42.77) and Max Berkey (31:20.76) also turned in solid performances to cap the lineup.
