Mathis, Childress, Hannah Represent Cumberland at All-American Bowl

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland football will be represented once again at the 2025 All American Bowl. Head coach Tim Mathis has been selected to serve as the head coach of the Blue Team, set to be played tomorrow in the U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. In addition to Mathis' coaching role, Phoenix running back Lamar Childress and defensive back Shaikyi Hannah will take part in the all-star showcase.

The All-American Bowl, founded in 1996, provides standout collegiate athletes the opportunity to compete against elite talent from across the NAIA, NCAA, and JUCO ranks in a premier postseason environment. The event allows players to showcase their skills in front of scouts and coaches while competing at a professional-level venue.

Mathis continues a familiar role in the event, returning as a head coach for the All-American Bowl. This is his fifth time at the event. Under his leadership this season, Cumberland finished 7-4 overall while going a perfect 5-0 at home. The Phoenix averaged 31.5 points and 397.3 yards per game, ranking among the NAIA's top offenses, while leaning on a physical ground attack that produced 210.7 rushing yards per contest. Defensively, the Phoenix allowed just 346.4 yards per game, limited opponents to 130.5 rushing yards per contest, and forced 11 interceptions, helping fuel key wins throughout the season.

Childress will represent the Phoenix on offense after providing valuable production out of the backfield during the 2025 season. The running back posted a season-high 115 rushing yards against Faulkner (Ala.) while scoring four total rushing touchdowns on the year. He showcased his versatility with contributions in the passing game and on special teams throughout the season.

Hannah earns his All-American Bowl selection following a strong campaign in the secondary for Cumberland. The cornerback totaled 30 tackles on the season, including eight against Reinhardt (Ga.), and recorded an interception at Lindsey Wilson. Hannah consistently impacted games defensively while also contributing as a return specialist during the season.

"Honored to be asked to do it again," Coach Mathis said. "I love getting the chance to coach our two guys one more time."

For fans looking to follow the action from Minnesota, the All-American Bowl will be streamed live on the event's official YouTube page. Additional information about the game can be found at www.allamericanbowl.com.
