Buckley Earns MSC Offensive Player of the Week as Phoenix Remain Perfect at Home

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Ty Buckley earned Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors following a productive two-game stretch against Mt. Vernon Nazarene and Saint Xavier, her third award of the season.

The seniors week started with a strong 18-point outing against Mt. Vernon Nazarene where the Cougars couldn't handle Buckley in the first half, allowing Cumberland to run out 82-53 victors by the time the buzzer sounded. Compounding that performance, the guard then put on a show in the second half of the Phoenix's final home game of the calendar year.

Buckley went into the third quarter with just six points, but with the home team trailing at home for longer than they had all season, she went to work. In the third frame alone Buckley matched her first half effort pouring in four points from the field and a pair at the line, but it was the fourth quarter that she really caught fire.

Cumberland got early stops and began to breathe life back into the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena, outscoring the Cougars of Saint Xavier 25-6 in the final quarter. Buckley was massive in that comeback, scoring 12 points in the quarter, including a go-ahead three pointer with just two minutes left to see the Phoenix remain perfect at home.

The senior has now won the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week award twice, while also picking up a Defensive Player of the Week along the way.
