LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland University Athletics held its annual Coaches In-Service Day on Thursday, bringing together staff from all 32 athletic programs for a full day of service, professional growth, and team bonding.
The day began with hands-on facility improvement projects as coaches repainted parking lot lines, setting up dorm rooms, and assisted with roof demolition at the softball complex. The morning of physical work reflected the department's commitment to maintaining and enhancing the spaces student-athletes call home.
Following the service portion of the day, coaches were treated to a grilled lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs provided by Lee Company, one of Cumberland's valued community partners.
The afternoon continued with a departmental meeting centered on vision, collaboration, and preparing for the year ahead. Coaches also participated in CPR certification training, reinforcing their readiness to ensure student-athlete safety in any situation.
The day concluded with an evening of team bonding at Cedar Springs at Bone Hollow, where coaches enjoyed fellowship, trivia games, and meaningful conversation.
"We want to model the kind of commitment, service, and unity we ask of our student-athletes," said Vice President of Athletics Ron Pavan. "Yesterday was about doing the little things together, getting our hands dirty, investing in each other, and having fun as one team."
With the fall season just weeks away, Cumberland's coaches head into the 2025-26 academic year refreshed, reconnected, and ready to lead.
