Women's Volleyball Continue to Receive Votes in NAIA Top 25

LEBANON, Tenn.-- Cumberland Women's Volleyball continued to receive votes in the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll, as was announced by the league office this afternoon.

Cumberland went 5-3 since the last rankings came out but picked up wins over strong teams like No. 24 Aquinas College and St. Ambrose, while also taking No. 9 McPherson to five sets in a 3-2 effort.

The Phoenix are currently tied for first in the NAIA in kills (962), with an outright lead in assists (914), digs (1262), and total points (1296.0), while also staying at second in service aces (171). The team has continued to build upon the strong start to the season as they rank within the top 25 in nearly all major counting stats.

Sophomore Lila Cade has continued to build on her All-Conference first year as she ranks 3rd nationally in kills with 240 so far this season and is first in serve receptions at 521. Carlee Rogers has been a do-it-all player for the Phoenix and the freshman sits just outside the top ten in the country for assists with 388.

Hazel Konkel ranks 8th in blocks assists (58). Morgan Snead sits in 19th for digs and is also 6th in serve receptions (398).

Eastern Oregon and Concordia (Neb.) both held put at No. 1 and 2 respectively, while the rest of the top five did a shuffle. Corban (Ore.) moved up from No. 3, Providence (Mont.) climbed one spot to No. 4, and Bellevue fell from No. 3 to No. 5.

A pair of new teams entered into the poll as Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) and Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) both jumped from receiving votes to the top 25.

The University of Cumberlands was the highest riser in this poll, gaining six spots from No. 20 to 14, their highest ranking in school history.

Besides the Patriots, Cumberland and Lindsey Wilson both represent the Mid-South Conference in the receiving votes category.

The Phoenix open up conference play and return home to take on the Bethel Wildcats tomorrow afternoon, starting at 7:00 PM.
