Lila Cade and Morgan Snead Earn Mid-South Conference Attacker and Defender of the Week After Success at the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invite

LEBANON, Tenn.- - After going 3-1 over the weekend and putting in an outstanding attacking effort, including 68 kills and a .299 hitting efficiency, Lila Cade was voted Mid-South Conference player of the week. Morgan Snead was a key part of the Cumberland defense, with 60 digs, and six aces over the weekend, earning her Mid-South Conference Defender of the Week.

The first of four games saw the Phoenix face Olivet Nazarene University. Cade had a huge game in attack leading the way with 14 kills .419 hitting percentage. Snead cleaned up on the defensive end with 11 digs. Cade also hit two service aces while Snead added one of her own. The team dominated the game sweeping Olivet in three straight sets 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20. 

The Second game was against #24 ranked Aquinas. The game was very even with it going all the way to the fifth set, with Cumberland taking the win 25-14, 25-23, 24-26, 16-25, 20-18. Cade carried on her momentum from the first game and posted 21 kills. Snead hit three service aces, and had a huge 23 digs to ensure the teams victory. 

On the second day of the tournament the Phoenix faced Trinity Christian College. CU won the game in three sets, 25-18, 25-16, 28-26. Lila Cade again led the way for the Phoenix with 13 kills in the game. Connecting well with Carlee Rogers at the net as she got 31 assists. Morgan Snead again was serving well as she picked up another service ace, and added to her tally of digs with 17 in the game. Snead kept the Trolls attack at bay, holding them to only a .087 hitting percentage. 

In the final game Cumberland fell to RV Cornerstone. Cade still managed 12 kills, three blocks, and 10 digs. Cade finished the weekend averaging 4.3 points a set, with a total of 187 total attacks. She also had four service aces, and a career high of 27 digs in the win over Oakland City. Snead finished with an impressive 60 digs, and six service aces. Averaging 15 digs a game. The two players played significant roles in helping the team to success on the weekend.

The Phoenix will travel to Davenport, Iowa next as they take part in the SAU Invitational.
