Cumberland Football Receiving Votes in Latest NAIA Football Top 25

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland Football continues to gain national recognition, picking up 51 points in the second edition of the 2025 Netting Professionals NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Monday afternoon by the national office. The Phoenix are among the teams receiving votes, sitting just outside the official Top 25.

Cumberland has won their last three games against NAIA teams to boost their record to 3-1. The Phoenix have been productive with the ground game rushing for 172. 3 yards per game and adding in 119.0 passing yards per game. Cumberland is averaging 26.5 points per game. 

The defense has been active recovering five fumbles and picking off two passes. Cumberland has scored two defensive touchdowns this season. Cumberland is holding opponents to 128.3 rushing yards per game and have got after the quarterback for 12 sacks this season. 

Over Cumberland's three game winning streak, the Phoenix are outsourcing opponents 106-42.

Grand View (Iowa) remained the unanimous No. 1 team in the country for the third consecutive poll after improving to 3-0 with a 24-7 win over (RV) Baker (Kan.). Keiser (Fla.) held at No. 2, while Benedictine (Kan.), Morningside (Iowa), and Indiana Wesleyan rounded out the top five.

The biggest jump of the week came from Carroll (Mont.), climbing seven spots to No. 18 following a 2-1 start. St. Thomas (Fla.) re-entered the Top 10 at No. 10 after defeating then-No. 6 Georgetown (Ky.) 26-7. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) also climbed, moving up two spots to No. 8 after rallying for a 35-27 win at Reinhardt (Ga.).

The Mid-South Conference is once again well represented, with Lindsey Wilson at No. 8 after the Blue Raiders beat Reinhardt. Georgetown (Ky.) slipped six spots to No. 12 after their first loss of the season to No. 10 St. Thomas. Campbellsville (Ky.) continues to climb moving up to  No. 13 after a 4-0 start. Cumberland joins the mix of MSC teams gaining national attention, earning the third-most votes outside the Top 25.

Cumberland is off to a strong start to the season, riding momentum into a four-game road stretch that continues this weekend at Florida Memorial.
