Men’s Volleyball are Receiving Votes in NAIA Preseason Poll

Lebanon, Tenn. - - Men's volleyball are receiving votes in the preseason NAIA top 15.

Last year Cumberland went 19-12 and 9-7 in the conference. The Phoenix finished third in their first season in the River States Conference.

Head Coach Chris Padilla will be looking to build on his most successful year as head coach last year as he enters third season with the Phoenix.

Joao Infante excelled in attack last year for the Phoenix as he led the nation in kills with 467, and averaged 4.10 kills per set. Cumberland also had the highest number of kills per team last year in the RSC. Francesco Corradini was second in the River States Conference in blocks per set, and Alexander Heuer came in third in digs. The Phoenix will be hoping these returning players will hit the ground running this season.

The Masters of California top the preseason poll as defending national champions after having a perfect 27-0 record. Saint Xavier (Ill.) and St. Thomas (Fla.) picked up the No.2 and No.3 spot. Last year's River States Champions Georgetown came in at the No.4 spot and Missouri Valley (Mo.) rounds out the top five.

Campbellsville, who were the runners up of the river states conference last year, come in at the No.9 spot, meaning last year's top three are all in the rankings.

Men's volleyball will open the new season this weekend as they head to Iowa to challenge in the Fighting Bee Invitational.
