Baskin Blanks Aquinas to Earn TSWA Pitcher of the Week Honors

LEBANON, Tenn.--Senior left-hander Logan Baskin has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers' Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week after delivering a dominant performance on the mound for Cumberland.

The Mt. Juliet, Tennessee native was nearly untouchable in the Phoenix's 11-0 victory over Aquinas on Saturday, tossing a complete game shutout. Baskin scattered just three hits across seven innings, did not issue a walk, and struck out 10 batters, with seven punchouts coming looking.

Baskin faced just 24 batters in the contest and allowed only one runner to advance past first base. He did not surrender an extra-base hit and finished with a .43 WHIP on the week, while posting an impressive 12.86 strikeouts per nine innings.

For the season, Baskin is 2-0 in three starts with a 0.00 ERA through 17 innings this season. He has struck out 20 batters and has posted a 0.54 WHIP.

With the honor, Baskin is the second Phoenix to earn TSWA honors this season. Cohl Proctor was named the TSWA Baseball Player of the Week last week. The last Cumberland pitcher to earn TSWA Pitcher of the Week honors was Anthony Gomez in 2014.

Will Curcio from Bryan College was named this week's TSWA Player of the Week hitting .529 with six home runs and 14 RBIs across five games.
