Men’s Bowling Earned Four First-Team All Conference Selections, Including Multiple Yearly Awards

LEBANON, Tenn. -- Dedmon earned MSC Bowler of the Year, Hollis wins Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year as Phoenix lead the conference in first team selections, the league announced Friday.

Braxton Dedmon, Carter Baylog, Ethan Gomez, and Jacob Ballenger earn first-team all conference awards, with Dedmon earning his first MSC Bowler of the Year award, head coach Christina Hollis earns MSC Coach of the Year, and assistant coach Chris Hollis earns MSC Assistant Coach of the Year.

Dedmon earned the Bowler of the Year award for the first time in his career, and is the first Phoenix to win the award in program history. Dedmon also made his second all-conference award after making the second team last season. The sophomore scored 3090 pins, for an average of 220.7 in 14 conference matchups. Dedmon was the only bowler in the Mid-South that averaged over 220 in the four conference tournaments. The Smyrna native was awarded the conference bowler of the week for the week of October 7th.

Baylog was able to knock down 2573 pins for an average of 214.416 in 12 conference games. The senior was able to get a third place finish in the Thomas N Burris Memorial to cement his place in the all-conference team. This is the second all-conference award for the Robbinsville, New Jersey native after a second-team selection last season.


Gomez knocked down 3218 pins, for an average of 214.53 in 15 conference matches. The senior was able to win the first Mid-South Tournament, the MSC Greater Nashville Open, with a score of 969 in four games. This is the first all-conference award for the League City, Texas native. 

Ballenger was able to hit 3386 pins, for an average of 211.625 in all 16 conference games, with the junior placing in the top ten in two of the four tournaments, including an eighth place finish in the most recent tournament, the Thomas N Burris Memorial. This is Ballenger's second straight first team all-conference selection, and Ballenger was selected to the MSC Champions of Character team.

Hollis was able to lead Cumberland to the program's first regular season conference championship this season with a 30-4 conference record and the No. 1 seed in the MSC Conference tournament. This is Hollis' third Coach of the Year award, and the first for the men's team, and Chris Hollis earns his second MSC Assistant Coach of the Year.

Lindsey Wilson's Connor Woosley was awarded the MSC Freshman of the Year.

The Phoenix will be still in action as they look for their first MSC Conference Tournament Championship on Friday!
