LEBANON, Tenn.--For the fourth consecutive year, the Cumberland Esports Overwatch team has secured the Mid-South Conference Championship.
The Phoenix captured the title with a pair of dominant 3-0 victories over Bethel University and the University of the Cumberlands during the conference playoffs.
Cumberland entered postseason play after an outstanding regular season, finishing 6-0 in conference action without dropping a single map to earn the No. 1 seed.
The Phoenix first faced Bethel in the semifinals, where Cumberland cruised to a 3-0 victory to advance to the Grand Finals against the Patriots.
Cumberland opened the championship series with a strong performance, winning map one 2-0. The Phoenix followed with a dominant defensive effort in map two, holding the Patriots scoreless before capturing all three points to secure a 3-0 win and take a 2-0 series lead.
The momentum continued into map three as Cumberland sealed the sweep with a 2-0 victory, claiming the Mid-South Conference Championship for the fourth straight year.
Cumberland will now look to add more conference titles, as the Phoenix Valorant and Rocket League teams compete for Mid-South Championships on March 12 and 13.
