All and Salem Lead Phoenix to ECAC Fortnite National Championship

LEBANON, Tenn.--The Cumberland Esports Fortnite team secured the program's first ECAC Fortnite Spring No Build National Championship, claiming the title after eight maps of competition.

The Phoenix duo of Tyler All and William Salem finished atop the leaderboard following the eight-game series, where the team with the highest cumulative point total is crowned champion.

Cumberland opened the competition with an eighth-place finish in game one, earning 36 points, but quickly rebounded in game two with a first-place finish and 109 points to take control of the leaderboard at 145 total points.

The momentum carried into games three and four, as the Phoenix posted two more first-place finishes to extend their lead. Cumberland totaled 385 points through four games, firmly holding the top spot.

After an early exit in game five resulted in a 19th-place finish and 14 points, the Phoenix responded with another victory in game six, adding 85 points to maintain their advantage. Cumberland then closed out the series with steady performances in games seven and eight, continuing to build their lead and secure the championship.

The Phoenix finished with over 600 total points, claiming the title by more than 100 points over second-place St. Clair College.

"I'm massively proud of this team. We set a goal at the beginning of the year of what we wanted to achieve, and we came out champions," said head esports coach Spencer Claypool.

The championship marks Cumberland's first ECAC Fortnite title and the seventh national championship in program history since its inception in 2021.
