Women’s Tennis Bounce back to Defeat Bethel on the Road

McKenzie, Tenn. - - Women's tennis will return to Lebanon with the victory as they defeat (RV) Bethel University 5-2.

Cumberland started strong taking the doubles point Elina Sungatullina and Maria Arbelaez picked up a 6-2 win at the top doubles spot, while Valentina and Juanita Mendez took the 6-4 victory. Madeleine Darud and Asya Tilsim Timur ensured the Phoenix swept the doubles with a 6-3 win.

Tilsim Timur fell in three sets at the one spot 7-5, 0-6, 4-6. Valentina Mendez in the second spot fell in straight sets, 2-6, 0-6.

In the three spot Maria Arbelaez fired in a 6-1, 6-3 victory, while Elina Sungatullina cruised to a 6-2,6-1 win. Juanita Mendez took her singles point 6-2, 6-2. Madison Darud also took her singles point 6-0, 6-3, as the Phoenix secured the 5-2 victory in conference play.

The Phoenix will be back in action on Wednesday 18 as they travel south to face Alabama A&M University, with matches set to begin at 1PM.
