Phoenix Return Home for MSC Series Against Lindsey Wilson

LEBANON, Tenn. --Cumberland baseball returns to Ernest L. Stockton Field at Woody Hunt Stadium this weekend for a Mid-South Conference series against Lindsey Wilson.

First pitch for Friday's opener is set for 2 p.m. CT, while Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m. CT, followed by the series finale at 2 p.m. CT.

Cumberland enters the weekend with a 12-14 overall record and an 0-3 mark in conference play. The Phoenix are looking to bounce back after being swept by the University of the Cumberlands and dropping a midweek contest to Tennessee Wesleyan.

Offensively, Cumberland continues to be one of the most dangerous teams in the NAIA. The Phoenix are hitting .348 as a team with 46 home runs and 202 RBIs, while adding 53 doubles and 10 triples. Their production ranks among the top offenses in the country.

Senior infielder Gaines Haussin leads the charge, batting .417 with eight doubles and five home runs. Dylan LaRue has been a standout both at the plate and behind the plate, hitting .407 with nine home runs, a team-high 28 RBIs, and 44 hits. Wilser Then is also producing at a high level, batting .380 with two triples, five home runs, and 23 RBIs. Aiden McDonald adds depth to the lineup with a .360 average, four home runs, four doubles, and 26 RBIs.

On the mound, Cumberland is expected to rely on Logan Baskins, Mateo Santos, and Carter Whitefield in the starting rotation. Baskins enters the weekend with a 3.09 ERA and a 3-1 record over 32 innings, holding opponents to a .237 batting average. Santos has posted a 4.11 ERA with a 3-1 record across 30 innings, limiting opponents to a .238 average. Whitefield has been especially effective, carrying a 2.19 ERA and a 2-0 record as a starter while opponents are hitting .250 against him.

Lindsey Wilson comes into the series with a 9-15 overall record and a 1-2 conference mark after dropping two of three games to RV Campbellsville last weekend.

The Blue Raiders are led offensively by Orion Hahm-Taklender, who is batting .379 with 25 hits, seven doubles, one home run, and 14 RBIs. Andres Duran is hitting .356 with seven doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 17 RBIs, while Caden Davis adds a .350 average with five doubles, one home run, and 10 RBIs. Davis has also been a threat on the bases, going 5-for-7 in stolen base attempts.

As a team, Lindsey Wilson is batting .264 with 17 home runs, 40 doubles, and 41 stolen bases in 52 attempts.

On the pitching side, the Blue Raiders are expected to start Easton Talley, Cassian Bartholomew, and Jack Ballou. Talley holds a 4.50 ERA with a 1-3 record over 26 innings and 26 strikeouts. Bartholomew carries a 5.76 ERA with a 2-1 record, while Ballou enters with a 5.91 ERA, a 2-1 record, and a team-high 36 strikeouts.

Historically, Cumberland has had the upper hand in the series, holding a 79-28 record against Lindsey Wilson since 1987. However, the two teams have split their last 10 meetings evenly at 5-5.
