Softball Receiving Votes in NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll

LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Cumberland Phoenix have made their way into NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll as they are receiving votes for the first time under Head Coach Stephanie Theall, marking a significant moment for the program's progress, as was announced by the league office this morning.

The Raiders of Southern Oregon remain at the top of the first regular-season NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 poll behind 11 first-place votes. The remaining first-place votes were spread across five different teams: No. 2 Eastern Oregon (1),  No. 3 Oklahoma City (3), No. 4 Oregon Tech (2), Madonna (Mich.), and Our Lady of the Lake (1).

The Phoenix kicked off their season with a pair of wins in a doubleheader over a strong Tennessee Wesleyan team. Madison Croxford and Avery Rauscher were both dealing in the circle and have carried that momentum throughout the season.

Rauscher, the freshman leading the way in the pitching staff, has had several electric starts and maintains the lowest ERA on the team. Just yesterday she recorded a career-high eight strikeouts and completed her third full games.

The bats have been warming up as well, as Hailey Donato and Karley Daughrity both launched their first career homers. Cumberland will look to bounce back from dropping a doubleheader to Johnson yesterday afternoon, welcoming in Union Commonwealth for the return trip of their season series.
