Phoenix Take Pair of RSC Awards After Undefeated Week

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Cumberland took two of three RSC Player of the Week awards as Joao Infante and Abdallah Roshdy took Attacker and Setter of the week respectively.

In a week that the Phoenix went a perfect three for three, the pairing linked up to lead CU to a 9-1 ratio of sets won to lost, the best stretch of the season so far for the Phoenix.

Infante totaled 43 kills in the three wins, peaking against Mount Vernon Nazarene where he hit 45% on 42 attack attempts for 22 total. The Portuguese senior leads the River States in kills per set and backs that up as the only attacker with more than two hundred kills, leading second place by more than 50.

Roshdy has filled in at the setter position this past week and the Egyptian didn't miss a beat, marking the second different setter for Cumberland to win the award in three weeks. Roshdy currently averages just shy of seven assists per set, highlighted by his 42 assists showing against Mount Vernon Nazarene.

This is the fourth and fifth River States Conference Player of the Week honors of the season. The award is Roshdy's second of his career, while it marks Infante's sixth at Cumberland.

The Phoenix will return to action later this week as Cumberland will take on Midway University tomorrow night and head off to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College this weekend for the second match of the week.
