Phoenix Look to Make it Five Wins in a Row as They Face Midway University

LEBANON, TENN. - - Volleyball will look to maintain their dominance over Midway University and turn their record into a winning one tonight.

Volleyball will be looking to make it five wins in a row tonight as they face Midway University at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.

Cumberland currently sits 7-7 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. Their last match was a 3-0 victory over Indiana University East. The Phoenix hit a total of 30 kills and had a lot of success at the service line with seven service aces. Cumberland finished with a .183 hitting percentage and held their opponents to a .028.

Senior Joao Infante has had an impressive run for the Phoenix as he was named the River States Attacker of the Week. Infante totalled 43 kills across three victories for the Phoenix, as he currently leads the conference in kills per set and has tallied up more than two hundred kills so far. Abdallah Roshdy will also be looking to keep up his fine form after he was named the River States Setter of the Week. Roshdy is averaging just under seven assists per set. In the most recent match up against IU East Alexander Heuer was on fire at the service line with five aces, while Frederick Amegbletor chipped in with six assists.

Midway University will look to bounce back after a 3-0 loss to Georgetown (RV). The Eagles have had a tough start to the season with a 2-14 overall record, going 0-5 in conference play.

JT Kimball leads the Eagles with 2.02 kills per set, while Braden Cacek leads the team in service aces with 12 so will be one that Cumberland have to be aware of at the service line. As a team Midway are currently averaging 8.1 kills per set.

In all time history, the Phoenix have dominated going 15-1. Cumberland are currently on a 13 match win streak and will be looking to ensure that dominance remains tonight. The last time Midway took the victory was in 2020, so they will be coming to Lebanon to try get the upset win on the road.
