Freshman Barbakadze earns MSC Offensive Player of the Week

LEBANON, Tenn.--Freshman forward David Barbakadze was named the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week with his outstanding tally of four goals and two assists in just two games, as was announced by the league office.

In his debut for the Phoenix, the Englishman starred as the leading goalscorer in an 8-0 rout of the Bryan College Lions in Cumberlands season opener. Barbakadze managed three goals on just three shots, while also assisting a pair of Luis Cerejo goals in the first half.

In Cumberland's home opener Barbakadze also tacked on another goal, helping to push the Phoenix past a surging Tennessee Wesleyan team. With Cumberland leading 2-1 and playing a man down, the freshman forward went on a deep run down the left half of the field and beat two defenders and the Bulldog goalkeeper to ice the game, which eventually ended 3-2.

This is Barbakadze's first weekly award as a Phoenix and also the first award of his collegiate career.
