Zamzow Holds Individual Lead, Phoenix Tied for Third After Opening Day

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.--Cumberland women's golf opened the 2026-27 season with the first two rounds of the Wildcat Fall Invitational at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex's Ackerman Hills Course.

The Phoenix opened with a 23-over-par 311 before improving by 12 strokes with an 11-over 299 in the second round. Cumberland's 299 was the lowest team score of the second round and moved the Phoenix into a tie for third with Marian at 34-over 610.

Cumberland enters the final round one stroke behind second-place SCAD Savannah and seven shots back of tournament leader Dalton State. The host Indiana Wesleyan sits four strokes behind the Phoenix in fifth, while Taylor is sixth at 617.

Crystal Zamzow paced the Phoenix and moved into the individual lead at one-over-par 145. Zamzow opened with a three-over 75, collecting five birdies and shooting a two-under 34 on the front nine. She followed with a bogey-free, two-under 70 in the second round, recording birdies on the par-five sixth and par-three 13th while posting matching 35s on each side.

Zamzow leads the field by one stroke heading into the final round. Yunyi Luo of SCAD Savannah is in second, one shot back, while Eleanor Schiutema and Presley White are in third and fourth at three four shots back.

Lucy Labdon climbed into a tie for 16th at nine-over 153. Labdon opened with a seven-over 79, highlighted by a birdie on the par-five second and 13 to go along with eight pars. She improved by five strokes with a two-over 74 in the second round, collecting birdies on Nos. 3 and 12 while playing the back nine at even par.

Matilda Lind finished the opening day tied for 26th at 12-over 156. Lind posted an opening-round 79 and followed with a five-over 77 in the second round. She collected five birdies during round two, including three in her final six holes to improve by three strokes over her final nine holes.

Alba McCorquodale joined Lind in a tie for 26th at 12-over 156 after posting consecutive rounds of six-over 78. McCorquodale recorded a birdie and 11 pars in the opening round before adding 13 pars during her second trip around the course.

Lucy Brown completed the opening day tied for 40th at 19-over 163. Brown began with a seven-over 79 after rebounding from an opening-nine 44 with a one-under 35 on the back, where she carded two birdies and six pars. She followed with a second-round 84.

Cumberland will close the Wildcat Fall Invitational with the third and final round.
