Zamzow Finishes Third, Phoenix Take Fifth at Wildcat Fall Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.--Crystal Zamzow earned a third-place individual finish as Cumberland women's golf took fifth in its season-opening Wildcat Fall Invitational at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex's Ackerman Hills Course.

Cumberland posted a 15-over-par 303 in the final round to finish the 54-hole tournament at 49-over 913. The Phoenix recorded rounds of 311, 299 and 303, with their second-round 299 standing as the third-lowest score posted by any team during that round.

SCAD Savannah won the tournament at 42-over 906, two strokes ahead of Dalton State and Marian, which tied for second. Indiana Wesleyan finished fourth at 909, four shots ahead of Cumberland.

Zamzow finished third at five-over 221 after finishing with a 76. She entered the final round with the individual lead. Zamzow started on the back on No. 10 today and had a slow start, but picked it up with three birdies in her final four holes, shooting a two-under 34 on the front nine. Her bogey-free, two-under 70 in the second round was Cumberland's lowest score of the tournament.

Lucy Labdon tied for 17th with 229 strokes across the tournament. She finished with a 76 in the final round. Labdon collected three birdies during the final round, on No. 18, No. 2, and No. 7.

Matilda Lind fired Cumberland's lowest score of the final round, posting a two-over 74 to climb into a tie for 19th at 14-over 230. She started on Hole No. 9 and started bogey-bogey, but recovered with three straight birdes on No. 13, No. 14, and No. 15. She added one more birdie on No. 6 before finishing with a 74.

Alba McCorquodale tied for 25th at 233 strokes. McCorquodale remained consistent throughout the tournament, following consecutive rounds of 78 with a five-over 77 in the finale. She recorded a birdie and 11 pars during the final round.

Lucy Brown rounded out the Cumberland lineup in a tie for 40th at 243 shots. Brown closed the tournament with an eight-over 80.

The Phoenix will compete next on Monday and Tuesday September 21-22 at the Carey Collegiate in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
