Women's Golf opens up action at the Carey Collegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss.--Cumberland Women's Golf took on a day one of the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Golf Club.

The Phoenix are in 10th place after the first two rounds posting a 318 and 313. The host William Carey leads the event posting a 297 and 294. Dalton State is in second place trailing by three strokes and Texas Wesleyan is in third, 10 strokes back.

Matilda Lind is tied for 30th place after shooting a 76 and a 79. She was the only Phoenix to notch both rounds in the 70's on the first day. Lind however did not card a birdie all day, but played consistently with 14 pars in the first round and 12 in the second.

Nathalie Nutu is one stroke behind Lind tied for 32nd place. Nutu shot an 81 in the first round, but bouced back for a 75, the lowest round of the day for CU, in the second round.

Lucy Labdon shot a 77 in the first round and an 82 in the second round for a 159 total. She is tied for 39th going into tomorrow. Labdon posted the most birdies by a Phoenix on the day with three in the first round and two more in the second round.

Ida Furuheim is tied for 51st after shooting an 86 and a 77at 163 strokes. Ksenia Yakovleva is in 62nd carding an 84 and 86. Franziska Mranor, competing as an individual, posted an 83 and a 93 and is in 65th.

The Phoenix will wrap up the Carey Collegiate tomorrow with the final 18 holes.
