LONDON, Ky.–Cumberland Women's Golf sits in third place after two rounds at the Patriot Invite, carding a 628 (318-310) at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
The Phoenix shaved eight strokes off their opening-round score and trail Cumberlands and Lindsey Wilson heading into Tuesday's final round. The Cumberlands have the lead at 604 with the Blue Raiders behind them in second at 614.
Cumberland was paced by a balanced effort across the lineup, highlighted by steady improvement in round two.
Alba McCorquodale and
Lucy Labdon lead the Phoenix while
Matilda Lind made the biggest move in round two with a team-best 74.
Labdon opened the tournament with a 75 to lead Cumberland in round one before posting an 80 in round two. Labdon caught fire in the first round firing four birdies in a span of seven holes with three pars. She added two more birdies in the second round to sit tied for seventh place.
McCorquodale opened with an 81 before bouncing back with a 75 in round two. She had just two birdies on the day, but played extremely well in round two with 15 pars on the card. She is tied for 10th place.
Lind delivered the biggest improvement of the day for Cumberland, cutting 10 strokes off her opening-round score of 84 with a 74 in round two to jump up to tied for 13th. After the slow start, she bounced back with three birdies, two bogeys, one double to shoot one-over.
Crystal Zamzow recorded rounds of 78 and 82 across the first two rounds to sit in 17th at 160 strokes. Zamzow posted two birdies in each round.
Franziska Mramor posted rounds of 88 and 81, improving by seven strokes in round two. She sits in 20th place going into Tuesday.
Cumberland will return to Crooked Creek Golf Club on Tuesday for the final round of the Patriot Invite.
