Phoenix Finish One Spot Outside Cut Line at NAIA National Championship

YPSILANTI, Mich.--Cumberland Women's Golf just missed the cut after a long day two to bow out of the NAIA National Championship tomorrow at Eagle Crest Golf Club. 

The Phoenix were the first team that missed the cut line as the Top 15 teams and ties advanced to the final round with Cumberland finishing in 17th place. Cumberland slipped today shooting a 328, 40-over par. The Phoenix totaled 642 shots across the two rounds. Pikeville and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) both tied for 15th place as the last two advancing teams at 59-over par, seven shots better than CU.

Tomorrow will be a shootout for the National Championship with several teams still in the hunt. Dalton State and British Columbia are tied for first place at 32-over par. SCAD Atlanta is two strokes behind the leaders in third place while SCAD Savannah is in fourth place at 35-over. Southeastern is five back in fifth place. Cumberlands and Keiser are each within striking distance at nine-back and 11-back. 

Lucy Labdon had the round of the day for Cumberland shooting a five-over par 77. Labdon was the only Phoenix to move up the leaderboard today finishing in tied for 73rd place. Labdon fired three birdies on the day on Hole 17, Hole 5, and finished with a birdie on No. 9. She had six bogeys and one double in her round today. Labdon has totaled 160 strokes. 

Alba McCorquodale shot an 82 in round two to tie for 82nd place at 163 strokes. Starting on Hole 10, McCorquodale played the back at three-over with three bogeys and six pars. She played the front at seven-over with five bogeys and one double on the day.

Matilda Lind stated the day in the Top 10, but shot an 84 to fall down the leaderboard to end tied for 63rd place at 159 strokes. Lind had one birdie on the day on No. 17, but had five bogeys and four doubles on her card. 

Crystal Zamzow also started today in the Top 10, but finished with an 85 in round two. Zamzow finished tied for 73rd place along with Labdon at 160 shots. Zamzow started her day with a birdie on No. 10, but ended with six bogeys and four doubles. 

Franziska Mramor posted a 94 in round two and now totals 183 strokes. 

Cumberland's season will come to a close with the Phoenix getting back on the links in the 2026-27 season next fall.
