Cumberland downs Thomas More in Four on the road

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.--Cumberland men’s volleyball comes away with a 3-1 conference win over Thomas More to end a three-win week for CU. 

Cumberland (3-5) picked up 52 kills and helped themselves on the defensive end with 57 digs and 10 blocks. The Phoenix limited their service eros to just 13 in the match.

Christian Lester had a big 18 kill match posting a game-high in kills. Libero Caleb Ginnings picked up 22 digs and his 1,000 career dig. Setter Jordan Pierce posted a double-double with 41 assists and 12 digs. 

Kix Ferrel posted the second most kills for Cumberland and Kaden Kuehler pitched in seven. Kuehler also had a big game at the net posting seven blocks. 

Cumberland got off to a strong start winning the first set 25-20. The Phoenix had a strong hitting set posting 17 kills on a .312 hit percentage. Thomas More responded with a set two win 25-17. The Saints had their best offensive set of the match in set two notching 14 kills. 

The Phoenix bounced back to win set three. The set was the tightest set played all match as the two sides were knotted at 21-21 before a 4-2 run gave Cumberland the 25-23 win. The Phoenix capped the win off by blowing out the Saints in set four winning the game 25-15 and the match 3-1. 

Cumberland will be back in action on Wednesday, February 22 to take on Life University back at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.
