MT JULIET, Tenn.--Cumberland's Women's Golf team swung into action on the first day of the Phoenix Invitational at Pine Creek Golf Course. The Phoenix sit in fifth place after playing 36 holes with a total of 597 strokes.
Milligan University is leading the tournament with a with a collective score of 576. Trailing closely behind is Marion University shooting 582. Tennessee Southern is in third place with a score of 588.Â
Matilda Lind was the standout performer of the day, posting consistently excellent scores. She carded an impressive 73 in the first round, followed by 68 in the second, tallying up a total score of 141. Lindh's 11 birdies, including 7 in the second round, placed her in a tie for second place.
Nathalie Nutu end the day with rounds of 73 and 73, landing her in a tie for 10th place with a total score of 146.
Ida Furuheim recorded scores of 76 and 73, culminating in a total of 149 strokes. She is currently in a tie for 15th place.
Franziska Mranor sits tied for 25th after rounds of 77 and 76, accumulating a total score of 153, aided by six birdies, four of which came in the first round.
Lucy Labdon and Caitlyn Bilham are tied for 34th place. Landon carded after rounds of 82 and 78, totaling 160 strokes, including three birdies. Bilham posted a 79 and an 81 in her two rounds Â
Ksenia Yakovleva and Emily Loveless rounded out the team's performance with scores of 84 and 81, and 86 and 90, respectively.
Tomorrow, the Phoenix will take to the course once more for the final round of 18 holes, aiming to climb the leaderboard and make their mark in the tournament. The tournament tees off at 8:30 a.m.
