LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland Wrestling Head Coach
James Hicks unveils the 2023-24 schedule, which includes two home duals and the annual Cumberland Open at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.
The Phoenix will open the year at the Patriot Open hosted by Mid-South rival the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky on November 4th. The Phoenix will then head to St. Charles, Missouri to take part in the Lindenwood Open on November 11th.
The following Saturday, Cumberland will go to the Life U Open in Marietta, Georgia. On December 3rd, Cumberland will finally get into dual action as they travel to Rio Grande for the Mid-South Conference opener on December 3rd.
The Phoenix will compete in more dual action in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on December 16th. The teams at that event are to be determined at the moment.
Cumberland will again head to the NWCA National Duals for an opportunity to compete for the duals championship. The event has been hosted in Louisville the last several years, but this year it will be in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on January 4th and 5th.
The Phoenix will have their first home action on January 11th as they play host to Midway University. Cumberland will travel to Campbellsville on January 17th before heading to the Missouri Valley Invite on January 20th.
Cumberland goes on the road this year to take on Lindsey Wilson on January 25th before rounding out the home duals schedule on February 2nd against the University of the Cumberlands.
The annual Cumberland Open will take place in the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena on February 3rd and will welcome over 100 wrestlers to the event.
The Mid-South Conference Championships are set fro February 16th in Bowling Green, Kentucky and the NAIA National Championships are back in Wichita, Kansas on March 1st and 2nd.
The Phoenix finished last year inside the Top 10 for the third straight year and look to continue to build on what they have accomplished and bring home hardware for the first time in program history.
