COLUMBIA, Ky.--Cumberland women's golf team sits in third place after the first two rounds of the Blue Raider Fall Classic on Monday. Nathalie Nutu is in second place chasing the leader on day one.
With a first-round score of 310 and a second-round score of 314 for a 614 total, the team sits in third place trailing Lindsey Wilson and Northwestern Ohio. The Racers are in first place after carding a 612 and the Blue Raiders are in second place at 616 strokes.
Leading the way for the Phoenix was Nathalie Nutu, who displayed an impressive turnaround in the second round. After carding a 79 in the first round, Nutu roared back with a remarkable 71, ending with a total score of 150. The one-under 71 was the lowest round of the day. On the front-nine of her second round, she started with three birdies and added three more in the round. Nutu picked an eagle on her first round.
She trails just Ebba Norrin from Northwestern Ohio by three strokes going into Tuesday.
Ksenia Yakovleva also sits inside the Top 10 in seventh-place with rounds of 74 and 81, resulting in a total score of 155. Yakovleva was tied for the lead heading into round two picking up four birdies in her first round. She only had one in the second round with eight bogeys and one double.
Lucy Labdon, competing as an individual, notched rounds of 81 and 76 for a combined score of 157, earning her a spot in a tie for ninth place heading into the final round tomorrow. Labdon played consistently in her final round to help her sit just inside the Top 10.
Franziska Mranor and Matilda Lind posted scores of 159 and 160, respectively. Mranor's rounds of 79 and 80 has her in 13th place, while Lind's 78 and 82 earned her a tie for 14th place.
Caitlyn Bilham and Emily Loveless rounded out the team's effort with scores of 165 and 177, respectively.
The Phoenix will play the final 18 holes tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at the Pines at Lindsey Wilson.
