Women's Bowling Take Second and Sixth as Chiarillo has Career Weekend

SMYRNA, Tenn. - - The Cumberland women's bowling team opened up their season with back-to-back tournaments in Smyrna, Tennessee this past weekend.

In the opening tournament of the weekend, Jennifer Chiarillo led the way for the Phoenix with a third place finish. She threw a tournament-high 257 in her third game, while averaging a 201.75, narrowly edging out teammate Gracie Connelly.

Connelly finished just a single pin behind Chiarillo, 806, and averaged 201.5 pins per game. The final member of the Phoenix finishing inside of the top-15 was Serenity Freeman who took 11th place with a 755 pin total, averaging 188.75 pins per round.

Carlie Semrau took home 17th place with a 732 pin total, while putting together a solid 183 average. Madison Clayton was the next highest finisher with a 35th place spot, totaling 675 pins. Just beyond her was Andrea Anderson with five less pins, and a 38th place spot.

In 49th place was Kathleen Schraer with a 161.25 pin average and 646 total. Madison Taylor finished in 60th place with a 598 total. Alyssa Campbell also finished just past her with a 505 total from three games.

The Cumberland varsity team put themselves in a good spot going into their baker games and with a third-place finish after their eight rounds, the Phoenix placed 2nd overall. 

In their second tournament of the weekend, the MSC Brandon Burns Memorial, the Phoenix totaled 5509 pins to finish in 6th place. Jennifer Chiarillo took charge of the team again with an 8th place finish. Chiarillo totaled 789 pins for a 197.25 average.

Serenity Freeman capped off the top ten with a 773 pin total, while Alyssa Campbell was just beyond her in 12th place with 755 pins. Madison Taylor had one of the strongest games of the tournament in her fourth round, rolling a 247, helping her to a 31st place finish. Carlie Semrau bowled a 679 which put her in 35th place.

Madison Clayton averaged 163 pins per round over her four games, totaling 652 to get herself 41st place. Andrea Anderson rolled her tournament high in her second game with a 165, and nabbed 621 pins to finish inside the top 50.

Kaylie Gibson played well in her three games, going over 200 in her second game and knocking down 531 pins to take 59th place. Just past her was Gracie Connelly who was three pins shy of Gibson, averaging a 176.

This coming weekend the Phoenix will compete again, heading north to take on the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic.
